Tour de Glasgow to Edinburgh
October 2025
On Saturday 6 September, a team of 11 gathered bright and breezy at Glasgow Queen Street station at 8:30am, ready to embark on the mighty Tour de Glasgow to Edinburgh — all in the name of raising funds for our wonderful charity this year, Alzheimer’s Society. Spirits were high and legs were fresh.
As if the 100km cycle wasn’t going to be challenging enough, a few of the team thought it would be fun to do the cycle (along the side of a canal) on tandem bikes. The lack of coordination from Ben and Finlay in particular provided great entertainment as we navigated tight parts of the canal paths, dogs and many a bridge. I can still hear them saying 1, 2, 3 and left foot down.
We stopped in Linlithgow just after 2pm for a well-earned lunch and some refreshments; thank you to NCM for this. Needless to say, we all needed it! After the pit stop, the team then kicked on and got back to Edinburgh just before 7pm after another long stint on the saddles. Spirits in tact but legs and backsides not so much.
In total, we raised around £1,300 for Alzheimer’s Society from the cycle alone, bringing our total fundraising to nearly £2,500 for this year, which is absolutely fantastic! Thank you to everyone who donated as it really helped push to the end
