Finance Meets Fresh Air: A Day Volunteering with ELGT

Last week, 10 of us from the Fund Services Finance team stepped away from our desks and into the sunshine for a day of volunteering with Edinburgh & Lothians Greenspace Trust (ELGT) — and what a day it was!

We spent the morning at Wester Craiglockhart Hill, raking a wildflower meadow to support biodiversity and encourage healthy growth in the area. In the afternoon, we rolled up our sleeves again to clear litter from the surrounding green spaces and cut back overgrown paths to improve accessibility for the community.

With the sun shining and stunning views across Edinburgh, it was a brilliant reminder of the value of spending time outdoors — not just for our own wellbeing, but to actively contribute to preserving the green spaces we’re lucky to have on our doorstep.

It was a rewarding, energising experience, and a great opportunity to come together as a team in a very different environment. Huge thanks to ELGT for the warm welcome and for the important work they do year-round.

We came back a little tired, a bit sun-kissed — and full of pride in what we’d accomplished together.
