NCM Attend Big Issue Invest AGM

Some of the NCM team were lucky enough to attend the Big Issue Invest AGM on Thursday 14 November at City Hall in London. The afternoon started with updates from Mark Porter (Chair) and Danyal Sattar (CEO) before the Fund Management team gave an overview of the four Funds and their performance throughout the year. Holger Westphely then picked up the mantle, giving an interesting update on the various lending projects undertaken by Big Issue Invest. Guest speakers from Patchwork Hub, Chocolate Films and London CLT engaged in a live panel session on stage giving a background to the amazing work they do with the help and support of the Big Issue team. The afternoon was rounded off with an impact review before closing remarks and inspirational words from Nigel Kershaw, one of the founders of the Big Issue.

Julie Young, Head of Impact and Alternatives, said of the event “I think the Big Issue AGM is one of my highlights of the year. It is a fantastic opportunity to reflect on how the hard work, support and determination of the Big Issue team translates into positive impact within the community. It is a real treat being able to attend the AGM and look beyond the financials, seeing the impact the Big Issue have in the community and the diverse range of lives that are touched through their work in supporting a wide range of projects.
